Running on Empty

On a lot of running stories, you will see that people run because they want to get away from something - stress of work, family, personal troubles etc. To a large extent, I believe that they are all gateway reasons to run. Once you start enjoying the run itself, it becomes the epicenter of your life. Everything else that takes you away from the epicenter is basically nothing but a waste of time.

I personally want to reach a point where I get beyond these day to day difficulties and focus entirely on my run almost like a yogi who lives in the mountains. But it is bloody difficult to reach that point. Mentally you are not there. Similarly, one can use running to control anger but on days that you are angry, there is nothing spiritual about your runs which makes them a lot less enjoyable. Maybe thats why I prefer running in the mornings because your emotions are pure.

Today's run was a 13km run along the lake. Although the sun is out, it is still cold and I feel it on my knees. Hopefully, it gets better and I get a few quality runs every week.

In general, I think I am generally happy and have tried to make the best of the cards that life has thrown at me.
