Kaveri Trail, 1:47 and a Big Thank You

The Kaveri Trail Marathon was done in 1:47 minutes. I am quite happy with the performance because it did take sometime to understand the intensity of the course and by the time your feet got used to it, Agni showered us with his blessings.

As always, running is a team effort and a couple of people need to be thanked. On Friday night, I partied hard with the Chennai crew. It hit me on Saturday when I woke up de-hydrated. I was nervous. Jordan videos, Raw kenyan training, fear and anxiety are known to be great motivators. Ekta dropped in and we spent time eating pasta, chatting, bitching and listening to some good music. It helped me take my head off a gruesome race. Thanks Ekta !!

Farah helped me pace out the first 8 km. We never spoke about it but her pace was just perfect for me to follow and finish strong. We did not speak much before or after the race. She finished a minute after I did. Thanks Farah!!

I was drawing parallelisms to work and running a race during the run. You never choose your team at work, you are given one most of the time and you need to get the work done. In running too, you don’t have a team to run with when you are an amateur/beginner. You just pick your team on the run and hope it will work. This time it worked.

The Bukamph group and Nischal helped me with their cheering and smiles. Rishi was there at the start point despite an anke injury to cheer. The team of brothers (Nari, Vasu and Ram) pushed me for the last 5km when I was bonking out. I saw them on the track and they forced me to go ahead nudging me to speed up. I think I easily saved about 5 minutes because of this. Thanks guys !!

RFL did a great job organizing this run. There were mile markers all through the run, water points were well stocked and the volunteers were highly proactive.

Thanks guys!!
