Kobe Bryant’s workout is called 666. 6 hours a day, 6 days a week and 6 months a year. You will be surprised to know that he does an average of 10 miles a day.
An interesting quote I found today on a running site is from Bill Rodgers – “Your training partners are key to your success, and friendships based on your runs together are strong.”. So true but when I mentioned this to an acquaintance, the response was “You are sick in your head”. She did not even know who Bill Rodgers is. The reply to “Do you know who Bill Rodgers is?” was “Whatever!!!”. That’s some respect to a two time Boston marathon champ.
To sustain my passion for running, it is important to spend atleast 5 hours a week in other activities like stretching, yoga and weight training. This means to keep up with a minimum of 5 hours of running, I must spend the same amount of time conditioning otherwise there is a good chance to get injured. Running is getting both expensive financially as well as in terms of time but there is not much that I can think of trading it for. I’ve been trading socializing to balance the running and rest schedules but it is well worth it. It is awfully boring to go out these days for some reason and even harder to meet people with similar interests.
