Blood Sugar Control, High Paying Job and Wrestling

The more time you spend on keeping fit, the more things like alcohol/beer start to affect you. It dehydrates you and interferes with normal blood sugar control. Although beer does contain some carbohydrates, it is a very poor source. Two-thirds of the calories in beer come from alcohol. I love to drink beer but it has to be moderated atleast until the race is done.

Fitness is definitely similar to a full-time high-paying-high-responsibility job. You just cannot afford to slack off. Building stamina/endurance is quite a mammoth task but losing it can be quite easy. At the same time, care has to be taken not to over-train either which could lead to depression, lack of motivation to exercise, low self-confidence and not to mention injuries.

Last evening’s run with Nischal was slow and easy. We planned to run for an hour or so and it was good to keep a close check on the pace to ensure that we run the entire distance strong. The issue with running in the evening is that you can’t fall asleep early. You tend to feel really energetic for the next 5-6 hours and you just cannot sleep. A long wrestle with the alarm (read: 2 hours) was required to get my one hour solo run this morning.
