A friend of ours had a question yesterday – “Why do you HAVE to run?” I’ve mentioned this before on the blog I think but the answer is that running is a calling that we can’t refuse. You simply cannot help yourself from going out running. When folks start training initially, the timing and the distance really does not matter but after a point of time, running a marathon is not a challenge until it is coupled with a time goal. To complete the distance within a certain time, also helps you add variety to the training schedule to include hills, intervals, fartleks and drills. Atleast for me, the harder the time goal, the more you learn about human limits. The 16-week training chart is always staring at me when I walk into my place I find myself always accountable to the chart.
This morning the schedule was an easy 15k in 1 hour 25 minutes. The junk food from last night got to me and I was more than half hour late to the start point at Cubbon park. I was looking forward to meeting a few folks from RFL (Runners for Life) and RGl (Runner Girls India). It seemed pointless to go to Cubbon and run by myself again and I just decided to use today as the rest day for the week.
We strengthened last night at the gym. Did some weights, pushups, abdomens and a few drills and that will help me run stronger. I think I need a more focused plan for the drills and strengthening.
