Cheese Dosas, X-treme Sports & Apocalypto

After slamming a whole bunch of beers at X-treme sports bar on Sunday, we vowed that we will never return back to the place again. It is dark, dingy and loud and surely not a Sunday afternoon place. There are some dark places that I like but I mostly prefer places that are brightly lit. There are some bars that are neither dark nor too bright. Those are the worst of the lot. An exception to that rule is take 5, however I cannot imagine going there on Sunday afternoons. A perfect Sunday afternoon place is Herbs and Spices, Cocobrew 13th floor or Shiros that serve good food and have tons of open space. Pecos terrace is another great place too but the restroom in Pecos is worst than the one in trainspotting. Even after a few beers, I try not to use it.

This morning’s schedule was 30 laps on a 400 meter track. The first 1.5km was supposed to be an easy jog, a 2.5km * 3 at half marathon pace with one lap breaks between each 2.5km and another 1.5km easy jog to cool off. When I do speed workouts, I usually imagine that I safely hid my wife and child in a well that is empty when the enemies got us. I need to escape from the chase and get back to them because they could starve to death if I don’t reach on time. If I stop running, the enemies will kill me, thus resulting in my wife and kid dying too. Stopping is really not an option and I need to go as fast as I can. (Source: Apocalypto, the movie). It is not an easy run but it is a run due to need and necessity. I was able to complete it strong today and got a good cheese dosa breakfast.

Cheese dosas with chutney is a great breakfast if it is cooked in very little oil. It has both carbs and fat that is lost from all the running. If you top that up with a protein shake and dates, you are set for the next 3-4 hours.
