15k easy?, Sex & My thoughts on the Run

Last morning’s schedule was a 15k run in 1 hour 25 minutes. The training plan says 15 easy run in 1:25. How is 15k easy? Anything beyond 10k requires serious mental preparation and anything that requires mental preparation is not easy. I follow a dis-associative approach where I think of something really nice and pleasant rather than the pain associated with running for the first 5k. After passing through the first 5k the pain gets internalized and I allow myself to focus on running form, style and time. For the first 5k you spend much more energy and time than optimal and it is important to go slow and not get carried away by the joy of running.

Running on a new road is like having sex for the first time with the new girl. You really enjoy the discovery of new smells, movements and surfaces. If you encounter traffic on the road, you have to be a little tactical about the running and it feels like having sex for the first time at a sneaky place like a lift. Someone could walk in while you are doing it and you are always cautious about it If you like the road, you continue to run on it very often and Cubbon Park to me is like a serious girlfriend. My favorite road types are either the flat ones or the uphills covered with a lot of trees and preferably with the lake.

My writings reflect my thoughts on the run and this is what I was thinking the last time when I ran to Cubbon through a route I never tried before.

buddy - whats this about sex and hills and flats??? Keep the sex in the bedroom (or in the lift) and the run on the road. You might get booked for indecent behaviour while running!!
