I picked up two assorted music cds last evening on my way from work and it had two of my favorite songs – Rise up and Eye of the Tiger. Work from 4pm- 7pm is usually very taxing and after getting back home, I just wanted to sleep for a little bit. After putting the cooker on the stove and playing both these songs, I was ready to hit the road. Started off with a 1.5 (12 min) really slow jog and then pounded the road for a 6.6km. Towards the end of the 6.6km (say around 5km), I wanted to give up and just then I spotted another runner. I ran up the black jacket black shorts (BJBS) and asked him if I could run with him. He did not care. It helped me complete the distance at a nice speed and then jogged for another 1.5km with him. The BJBS guy yesterday really helped me pull through this but we never spoke one single word and did not even introduce ourselves after the run. Anonymity is what makes running so special. You bond when you run and running and pain associated with it by itself is the binding factor. No need for names, introductions, occupations, fancy clothes etc. etc. It takes only one long run to make a friend for life.
Todays distance is a 10km run at 57 minutes. Hope to pull through this.
