So getting back to long distance is never easy.

For me the reasons were many but the top 5 reasons were the following –

a)      Too busy with interviews, assignments and group work. Learnings in the group work were nothing that I did not learn from group work in team sport and running
b)      Way too many late nights trying to get to know people during the MBA – ended up making a bunch of good friends in the process but running had to take a back seat
c)       I cannot run in cold environments – my knees get jammed
d)      Bad or no company to run with. If you come across anyone called Kristina Leone from Bocconi, never run with her. She will ruin the experience for you
e)      Uncertainity in terms of  a good job of the MBA clogged my head and running was not a priority

I have been slowly but steadily trying to get back to sport after I got back to Bangalore. This weekend was icing on the cake when I played ultimate with the straydogs again. The team was extremely positive and it just somehow made me want to get ultra-fit again.

The most logical thing to do was to call Captain Rishi who runs my running group called BHUKMP. His then girlfriend and now wife, immediately responded to my facebook post and we found ourselves doing a 15k within 10 hours of our conversation.

Multiple things were learnt but the most interesting thing was when a security guard stopped us and introduced himself as an international hockey player. He said road running is sometimes not good for you because your calves become stiff and he advised us to run on trails instead. His body language showed that he was really concerned.

This was my smoothest run in the last year and a half and I have realized that running with good company is the only way to run long distance
