Time2Run, Stitches and Massages

Most things this weekend was a blur. Lets just say that sometimes it is normal for people to lose sense of time and place. I blame it on the company and people I haven’t met for a while and people I will not meet for a while.

The 10k in 40 minute mission is designed based on Time-to-run’s 10k schedule (http://www.time-to-run.com/training/10k/sub40.htm). It is exactly 40 days away and just about time to kick off the training. In my opinion, this race is going to be entirely a mind race mainly because of the stitches I get after running hard for the first 6k. Despite consuming sufficient quantities of water, taking salt tablets, getting enough rest, the stitches do not go away. Massaging your abdomen when you feel the stitch surely helps but ruins my form for at least a kilometer or so. The long term solution is to increase core strength and I am hoping yoga does that for me in the next 40 days.

Last week’s training comprised of 4 hours of yoga and the exact same amount of running. It will be nice to increase it to 6 hours of each on a good week atleast.

Not missing a single training schedule for the next 40 days will be the key to achieve a sub 40 minute. Your running must never become too much for you. You must always be able to do the sessions asked of you, if you miss a training session you can't make it up. There is no going back to make up for what you missed out. Doing this is what normally leads to injuries.
