Training, Negotiations and 8.4k

After making plans to travel and running around a bit yesterday, it was clear that I would go crazy if I did not run for the rest of the week. Even if I know for sure that I would not be running due to traveling during work, it is mandatory that I pack my running shoes. This is part of the reason why I can never travel light even if it means that it is only a day trip. The craziest thing that happened, is that once, I did 200 meter strides in the Mumbai airport after leaving my entire luggage including my laptop with a coffee day waiter.

Running before negotiations allows you to keep calm and composed. It allows you to let the other person talk, finish, blow his steam and then you strike hard. You almost never lose it. Try it, it always works for me.

Finally this weekend, I am getting my apartment in the heart of Indiranagar and Cubbon is going to get more accessible again. There are so many people I want to run with there. Running with someone helps you understand too many things about people. You clearly know if the person will be around for life, if you can trust the person, competitiveness, if the person will pull you up if you are really struggling in the marathon, if the person will sacrifice his run for your injury etc etc. Often, I have met people once for a run and they live so far away but they make it a point to write a proper email atleast several times a year. You end up meeting people from the entire cross-section of the society and they all bond well. The sport is probably the best equalizer and that’s the primary reason why I like to run.

Successfully managed to complete a 8.5k this morning at a conversational speed and then stretched out thoroughly. The focus will be to do a 10k this Saturday/Sunday and then focus on speed from next week. A friend of mine says “i will bike while u run so i can give u good food”. I have realized that it is the only kind of girl I can fall for.
