Primary Education, Auroville and Boston

I read an article today that says that anyone can qualify for the Boston marathon and every runner is capable of running the 42.195 km in 3:15. It is a function of diet, rest and of course training. I really believe in this…anyone training for 5 years should surely be able to crack the Boston qualifying. Like Mecca is to Muslims, Boston is to Runners. Every marathon runner will surely hope to qualify for Boston at some point or the other in his life. I am going through the same phase now. I want to qualify for the race and since I am always in a hurry, I want to do it in 2009 itself.

The plan for December is to do light workouts and work my way up to the full marathon in Feb at Auroville. Movies and books are going to be my best friends and will stop me from partying too hard. It may sound like boasting, but if my ankle gets better in the next 10 days, you will see me in the top 5 finishers in Auroville.

I am raising funds for Team Asha to improve primary education in the country. If you want to help me with this effort, please contribute towards the cause.

Rajesh,

I'd agree with you if I thought I was unprepared. My training program for 2008 was like this - Trained for a 10 k that I was able to complete in 45 min. While I was training for the 10k, I was also training for 5ks and worked on improving my timings in 800mts. Later this year, my endurance base increased exponentially when I did a few long runs. I am targetting for a 3:30 with this years base of speed and distance. I may or may not do it within the targetted time...I may be way off but I think its hard for me to stop dreaming. Its close to impossible.
