For me, it is very important to take care of unfinished business. Last year, Hari and I trained for a marathon together. We got through half way strong meeting almost every other day fueling each other to run a little bit longer and harder each time we ran. However, due to a series of events that happened, we were unable to continue it. For Auroville marathon this year, I decided to email Hari and get the same plan that he is using to run the Singapore marathon this year. The plan is a little tougher than I expected but whats life if you don’t push yourself a little bit more than usual. If not be able to run with him, atleast use the same plot and discuss it.
I decided to add a little jazz to the plot and got myself two huge chart papers. The plan was to draw out a schedule on the chart paper rather than the excel sheet (I like things the old fashioned way). Only after I started drawing it out, I realized that I suck at drawing straight lines. The plan does not look as cool as I visualized. Its also tiring to divide a huge sized chart into sixteen weeks…it makes me a little nervous of running it.
I plan to run for team Asha this year. They are kind of cool. They have a coach who gives me a good vibe, they have schedules and they are a good mix of young and older crowd. I’ve only run with them once this year but I know I am quite sure that I’ll enjoy training with them.
The goals of this year are –
· Run a 30k or more (depends on how I feel that day) with Doc and Santosh (who also coaches the Asha team) to help them complete their 200k run
· Run the Mumbai half if I happen to pull a few strings and enter the race
· Run the Auroville full marathon on Feb 15th.
