I finally arrive at my last ten days of training. I have three circuits planned, two training sessions to increase lactate treshold and one pure speed session along with other easy runs/cycling.
Something tells me that I am there and I need to focus and consolidate everything I learnt over the last six months. Adequate rest and a diet without any junk food is what I will be focusing on for the last ten days.
The training period has taught me a lot of things and I have changed as a person during the last six months. So, no matter what the final result is, I will be able to carry forward my learnings to whatever I plan to do next.
a) My alcohol consumption has reduced to about 3 beers a week on an average. For the last two weeks, I have been having more like a pint. Last friday, I just chose not to drink and I did not even cringe one bit for my favorite beverage. But, I do indulge when friends come down to visit from outside the state.
b) I have developed the habit of waking up at 5:00 am and getting to be by 11:00 pm. I spend a lot of time with people who matter the most to me and have no trouble saying "no" to any social occassion.
c) I work and train as though I am going to die the same night. I give everything I have all through the day and as a result get a good nights sleep.
d) My diet pattern has changed completely. Breakfast is usually fresh fruits and museli along with very minimal rice. Lunch is Chapatis and some rice to substantiate the meal and dinner is usually super light followed by some fruits.
e) General outlook and confidence has increased over the last six months. I am in my best physical condition and I am able use the benefits of health to work, relationships etc.
f) I read a lot more. On reviewing my goals for this year, I mentioned that I will be reading atleast 3 books a month. I slacked off for a while on this but I have started to catch up over the last few months.
