So, this is it. I have been having a crappy training week and I have no one else to blame this time but me. The entire week, I was able to get one sole circuit with a total of just 4kms against my target of 30 miles. With two days left, I plan to do short runs of 4 miles each consisting of one speed workout and one reminder marathon pace workout.
The plan is to join the pace group and drag my feet along till the finish and also to make sure that the finish is within 4 hours.
I am giving myself 5 years before I can get a sub 3 finish and this is the first step of the steep climb. This needs to happen for me to be motivated about my future running goals. I still have not found a marathon that I would like to participate next year. Some factors for choosing my next run is going to be that the race has to be international (preferably outside Asia), terrain needs to be relatively flat similar to training conditions and the weather needs to be less than 25 degrees centigrades. And not to mention, it will be fun if the place is similar to Vegas so that I can let myself loose after the run.

May I suggest the following Runners World Top 10 Marathons:
1. London Marathon, April
2. Berlin Marathon, September
3= New York City Marathon, November
3= Chicago Marathon, October
5. Boston Marathon, April
6. Stockholm Marathon, June
7. Rotterdam Marathon, April
8. Paris Marathon, April
9. Honolulu Marathon, December
10. Amsterdam Marathon, October
I know I will be doing the London one day. As for your cause, Berlin is the #1 as far as the number of world records go, including the last one by Gebrselassie this year.
As far as Asian marathons go, I have collected the following statistics from last year:
1. Tokyo - Feb 17 (quota - 25,000)
2. HK - Feb 17 (quota - 8000, 4000)
3. Beijing - Oct 21 (4000)
4. Bangkok - Nov 18 (1900)
5. KL - Mar 18 (750)
All numbers above are for Full Marathons only.
Which indicates that Tokyo one is the biggest in Asia. But I am inclined towards having some fun in Hong Kong, maybe next year, maybe later.
