The 11th week syndrome

Week 11 to Week 14 are the hardest weeks in the sub 4:00 training program. I have been on Week 11 for three weeks now and am not able to get past the 30 k long run. Either the folks running with me arent able to keep up the commitment or I am unable to do so. I am going to give it my everything this week and get past this monster.

I finished reading "duel in the sun" and the book talks about depression post marathon life. I feel addicted to running and even if i miss one day of training I feel lost. I have decided that next year for the first 8 months, I am going to focus on other things like swimming, cycling and yoga and give up marathon training for that period. However, I plan to continue running with the chennai runners on their shorter runs but will keep away from long distance. The idea is to run until I am 60 years old and complete one marathon and two single marathons every single year. After I attain the sub 4:00 timing in the singapore marathon, I am going to stop focussing on the timing and run for the sheer pleasure.

I think it's a great idea to try some other training (for next year). I was running like crazy, probably too much and I was really noticing it in my knees. Now I'm cycling and swimming part of the week. I have my first triathlon on the 8th of September. I'm nervous, but excited.
