Minimum wage - An alternative point of view

"The minimum wage is a tax on small businesses that employ younger, unskilled workers. It is not efficient at combatting poverty and creates a less friendly business environment for entrepreneurs. This is a step in the wrong direction for a state where the economy is already faltering. Protectionist rhetoric and raising the costs on small businesses appears to be the “new direction” in which the state is headed. If this continues, the situation is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. "

I believe that minimum wages are necessary to keep people above poverty level and help unskilled laborers with their basic needs. It is also an important tool to keep greedy capitalists under check. However, this point of view from an small sized entrepreuner in Ohio will make me think more on the isssue.
