Human Development Report 2006

The latest Human Development Index, which analyses 2004 statistics from 175 countries. UK did not make it into the top ten because of change in the manner of how education statistics are reported.

The top ten countries are:

• Norway
• Iceland
• Australia
• Ireland
• Sweden
• Canada
• Japan
• United States
• Switzerland
• Netherlands

The report also states that the Sub Saharian African countries show no signs of improving mainly because of reduced life expectance due to HIV.
