Military commissariat in the Russian city of Volgograd has sent call-up papers to a one-year-old baby boy.
Dima (diminutive from Dmitry) Verenitsin turned one on January 9. In several days, his family received a document from the conscription office saying Verenitsin should visit the office in order to be registered with the enlistment point. In Russia, young people should be registered at the conscription office not earlier than when they turn 16.
Dima’s grandmother first wanted to visit the commissariat with the baby but “there was that cold snap and he got ill” . So she decided to phone the conscription office. “They could have at least made some kind of joke. No, instead they were rude,” she said.
About the incident, Regional deputy commissar, Vladimir Morozov “We receive information on citizens living in the region from the utility service offices. According to their documents, Dmitry Vassilievich Verenitsin was registered as being born in 1989.”
