In exercise, running is like Meth. Once you start it, you can never stop. You immediately hit the high in about a kilometer and then you just keep going till you drop. I have seen old runners who still talk about it and there is always a craving to go back. You just need to make time for it if you enjoy it. Just for the record, I am not a meth addict and have only read about it.
For me it is very spiritual. I feel like I am closest to Lord Shiva or Goddess Amman and they shower me with answers to general things in life. They tell me what to do and what not to and I feel like an arm around me, taking care of me. I think that is why I run.
It is weird when you are hit below the belt by friends you thought are very close to you. When that happens, it takes a long time to recover. The worst thing is you are so confused that you think you are wrong. But one should not do that to themselves. Before giving people a benefit of doubt, you must weigh the costs of giving them the chance. If giving a chance hurts you to a point that you cannot recover, you might want to think a million times before you give them the chance. However, the earlier you feel let down, the better and easier it is to chop them off from your life. The timing was horrible though. We break and we build and thats what makes us what we are.
Having a great running week, is the best feeling. Karthik is doing a 10*10 – 10 kms everyday for 10 days and I am trailing behind him to get back to a schedule. I am having second thoughts about the Turin Marathon on Nov 14. If I get time to run for 6hours a week, I think I will do it. It is about time to get my fix.
