Mumbai Marathon 2010

When I speak to friends before the marathon especially Mumbai, almost everyone is anxious. The race is one of the toughest races due to a combination of factors – the heat, pollution and the terrain.
The energy that the city gives out is what is making me run the race this year. The last time I ran it, I cramped up and almost swore that I will never run a marathon ever again.

There are different ways to overcome the last week of anxiety. Some immerse themselves into reading, hang out with running buddies, spend time on the runners world website, learn about little secrets to avoid cramping, eat healthy etc.

For me what works is to read. Just read myself to sleep really works. Sometimes I get cranky during the last week.

The whole experience humbles you ofcourse. You have been thinking about it for 4 months and now its time to go get it. Stay focussed for a week and then feel good about completing one of the toughest races on earth. Each runner has a unique take away from the race. You'll never know until you run it.
