Dragon, Cough and Cold and Jinxed Marathon Training

I think I have been jinxed in terms of training this year. The first week was fantastic and I breezed past it without any difficulty. However, I developed cold and cough last Sunday evening after the 16 k run with Arun.Krishnan I took a bus back on Monday evening from Chennai and it gets really hard for me to run the next day after I travel which is why I missed my Tuesday run. I am still sick and might just have to miss my run this evening too. If things go well, I’ll run both tomorrow morning and evening and keep up with the schedule. Traveling again over the weekend and I am unsure about my diet and running during the weekend but I hope to somehow keep up with whatever was planned. Lets hope it comes through.

My lunch today was at Mast Kalandar where I had hulka phulka. Hulka phulka is a combo, that comes with Dal, three phulkas, curd, a sabji, and some rice. It costs Rs.100 with tax. I sometimes wonder why such simple food should cost so much. The normal Gokul kuteera meal that gives you all this including a sweet and yogurt, costs only Rs.45 but is not as healthy. They give you puris instead of phulkas and some really oily sabji. I wonder how they make it rich with oil and all that and charge less. It’s a thought..any answers for this?

Diwali in Chennai was good. Hung out with folks most of the time. I met up with the crew at Dragons place that was great. A lot of laughs, two glasses of beer and some clarity on the travel plans. I must emphasize that our travel plans never take off but we still love planning. Usually, the guy who books the tickets is the scape goat and last time it was the dragon himself. Fearing the dragons fury, we went underground for days together. I did a search for dragon to realize that there are different types of dragon – Chinese, Vedic, Persian & Semitic. Interesting !!!!

simple lunch is hard to get by.. an average lunch meals costs me 75 bucks... that too these sagars charge you 50 bucks per limited meal...

the oil they use is typically palmolive or a little cheaper variant.. probably a vanaspathi... the vegetables are cut randomly and some random masala is added and cooked.. some times oil being reused...

poori is cheaper than phulka as they add maida and not aata (wheat)... and it makes more ecomomics when they sell these items in large volumes ...

you shuld try Cafe Arogya in Koramangla but it costs a premium...

So for my lunch I keep shifting restaurants as my office food sucks !
