The Milemuncher on the Chennai Marathon

There were several things that were really wrong with this Chennai "Marathon":

1. Why did they call this event Marg Chennai marathon, when they areorganising a half marathon?

2. Who was the race director? What are his credentials? (how manymarathons he ran, organised etc) It looks like the course was notmeasured out properly, who can we approach to deal with this issue?

3. Did Tamil Maiyam have ever orgnaised any sports event before?

4. If Jack or Jill don't turn up on time, wouldn't it be better tohave the race started at the time that they had announced.

5. When some of the runners fainted, they were put on back of amotorbike and were taken to the finish point. I saw two runners werecarried off this way. Was this the safest way?

6. At the finish point, no one marked slow runners' finishing time. Ifthe organisers aren't interested in noting everyone's finish times, they shouldn't even let the slow runners run the race. It's sad that they want a huge crowd, so they can boast about how many ran the race, but they don't want to take care of a small thing such as thefinishing time.

7. Now for the results: We would like to see the list of runners whogot the prize money and what time they actually finished it. It wasso pathetic at the end, I asked one of the guys, why they are markingonly some runners and leaving out the others. He said that they arechoosing runners randomly for the prize.Well, these are my gripes and hopefully we get to express them to theorganisers one of these days. If the organisers are REALLY lookingfor feedback, I am sure they would be able to find this via google.

Regards,Jacob.
