Though I was targeting a 70 km week, I was only able to put in close to 50 kms. To be precise, I got only 47 k done. Not too bad, considering that I was travelling a lot, drank tons of beer and hung out till late in the night reading Murakami.
The plan in Hyderabad was to get a run from Belsons Taj to HPS, do a cross-country route in HPS and head back to Belsons. This would amount to a total of 15k. On reaching school, the watchman denied entry and despite trying to tell him that I am an ex-student, he would not let me enter. I threw a stone at the gate and slammed it with my hand and decided to run on the Begumpet flyover. Just below the flyover, there is a drainage, that also happened to be a path that I had taken years ago to skip school. Using the same path, I sneaked into school and luckily got to do a run in some clean air. I must tell you that my school was a snob haven...there were simply too many snobs per square foot of HPS
The trip was great. I got to meet some fun kids who work in microfinance too and we had many drinks together. Met a old friend of mine after ten years to play holi with him. Too bad he left for the States again on the same night. Did a few drinks with him and the rest of the boys. My boy Doug was there too and we did what we do best - drink beer. So, all in all, there was a lot of beer that was consumed without too much guilt. Holi was celebrated with eggs and gulal. The party ended with the host ordering for some yummy biriyani from Paradise and I must have atleast eaten two of those.
We keep these Hyderabad trips extremely simple - guys get out, do beer and when we get hungry do some biriyani and the circle continues usually for two days in a row. No games, no phoney friendships and everyone giggles all the time.
