Torture Taxi

Torture Taxi by A.C. Thompson and Trevor Paglen. These guys were on www.democracynow.org this morning. They have provided some good insights about the CIA operations. I did some independent research learnt a little bit about their covert operations:

• CIA does not associate itself with big companies. You can only spot these companies when you go through the corporate register. These companies are only represented by their lawyers. CEO signatures look different every year. The names of these CEO’s cannot be found in popular paid name databases.

• When CIA connections get exposed, the addresses and the names of the companies are quickly changed.

• Locations of CIA international prisons keep moving almost every year. Current locations are expected to be in Poland, Morocco and Afghanistan.

• Afghanistan is one of the hubs of rendition. In Kabul there are more than 20 detention centers and people are kept in there incommunicado. Rendition prisoners are often mixed up with military prisoners and moved to military facilities.

• Civilians are not allowed into these prisons. Torture techniques range from allowing German Shepards to bite naked bodies, starvation for days, prisoners put in stress positions, interrogated for days and weren’t allowed to practice religion.

• President Bush says “we don’t torture”. The definition for torture in the books of CIA is far beyond what we consider in our everyday torture. Things like letting dogs biting naked bodies is not considered torture.
