Facts about Kenyan Runners

A) Runners from the Kalenjin tribe have won 40 percent of international middle and long distance competitions.

B) Most marathon winners are 5'9 and weigh about 129 pounds.


c) They almost never deviate from their food habits which comprises of an 8:00 am breakfast, mid-morning snack at 10:00 am, lunch at 1:00 pm, afternoon snack at 4:00 pm and supper at 7:00 pm

d) Most nutrients came from vegetable sources - bread, boiled rice, poached potatioes, boiled porridge, cabbage, kidney beans, ugali, tea with milk and sugar.

e) They train in a group and run twice everyday (6:00 am run and the 5:00 pm run). The afternoon runs are between 4-5 miles at an easy pace.

f) The most interesting fact is that they consume more tea than water and always eat one hour within their workouts.
